Enlightened Legacies Retreat – Workshop
Workshop Title: Ancestral Courage: Writing Your Way to Brave
Led by: Sofia Mendoza LCSW
Founder of Mending Roots Therapy Practice and author of over 35 wellness books and journals through Mending Roots Healing Spaces.
Description: What if your bravery isn’t something you need to find—but something you’ve already inherited? What if healing yourself is the bravest thing you’ll ever do? What if rest is resistance? What if your creative expression is an act of ancestral liberation?
In this transformative journaling workshop we will honor the courage of those who came before us and channel that strength and wisdom into our own lives today.
Your ancestors were brave in ways the world never celebrated. They survived under harsh circumstances. They created beauty in hard times. They found glimmers and blazes of joy. They used creativity and resourcefulness as resistance. They passed their strength down to you.
Through guided prompts and ancestral connection, we’ll explore:
Their bravery made your life possible. Their courage lives in your bones. Now it’s time to honor that legacy by creating, healing, and living courageously in your own way.
You come from brave people. Let’s write our way home to that truth.

Lo Ha Vivido: Mapping my Story from roots to bloom
Led By Cynthia Alonzo, LCSW
Rose Mapping- We start from the historical roots of your lineage´s struggles and survivals that led to you being here. We move up the rose stem to uncover hidden parts that need our own nourishment to grow. Together we map our gifts and wounds or our thorns and leaves to understand the epigenetic power of our stem and we consider the beauty of our boom when we move in our highest vibration of love.
We map our story using a rose map that recants our historical and cultural narratives from our roots to our bloom.
We stand in the intersection of colonialism and collective impact with love and compassion for us and those who walked before us.
We call upon our own divine love as the nourishment to bloom.

I’m Cynthia Alonzo Perez, LCSW.
I’m a Native Mexican American with Maya ancestral lineage in Yucatán dating back before Spanish colonization. My parents immigrated from Yucatán, and I carry gifts of storytelling, crafting, and curanderismo passed through my family.
My credentials:
I specialize in inner child healing through ancestral epigenetic work. Through Rooted in Reflection, I’ve spent years creating soft, brave spaces where intergenerational healing can happen.
I am a steward of this land. When you work with me, you’re partnering with someone whose ancestors are woven into the soil you want to gather on. I bring clinical training, cultural knowledge, and a deep commitment to doing this work in a way that heals rather than extracts.
