I Feel You and I Hear You

Featuring

Brittani Williams, LCSW

Cynthia gets to talk with Brittani Williams, LCSW and owner of Healmatic, a private practice in San Diego, CA. Beside the dope nod to 90’s hip hop, what is also appealing about Healtmatic is Brittani’s approach and authentic flow which is mad felt in this conversation. Brittani is a visionary and a therapist that is impacting so many by bringing her true self to her work. Brittani talks about co-hosting an EMDR and Hip Hop  training, how music has inspired her practice, and how she stays rooted in her values.

Brittani Williams is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Social Work Entrepreneur, Educator and Hip-Hop head. She received her Bachelor’s in Sociology from The University of Southern California and a Master’s in Social Work from The University of Hawai’i at Manoa. Originally from the San Gabriel Valley, Los Angeles, she was immersed into the Underground Hip Hop Scene. Through Hip Hop, she found connection, passion and identity and integrates this passion into her clinical work. With over nine years in the mental health field, Brittani has a wide variety of social work and therapeutic experiences. Inspired by Nas’ legendary Hip Hop album “Illmatic”, Brittani founded “Healmatic Group Practice” as a way to honor how much Hip Hop culture has brought healing into her own life. Currently, she leads a team of MSW practicum students, associate and licensed psychotherapists and operates as clinical director, psychotherapist, and field instructor. She continues to provide therapeutic services, consultation, clinical supervision, public speaking engagements and trainings to various nonprofit organizations, higher-educational institutions and national associations. Currently the Healmatic team is in the process of collaborating with high schools, prisons and outpatient programs to continue spreading clinical work that is culturally affirming and people centered.
